Herman T. Rock, 53, of Baltimore, is facing multiple charges including driving a motor vehicle while under the influence and driving a motor vehicle without a license following the violent crash shortly before midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

According to police, officers responded to a crash in the area of Monroe Street and MD 295 on Tuesday night.

While officers waited for a tow truck to arrive at the scene to remove one of the vehicles involved in the crash, an Infiniti SUV crashed into the rear of a marked MDTA Police SUV, officials said. The MDTA Police vehicle had its emergency lights activated at the time of the crash, and an officer was inside.

The impact of the Infiniti striking the SUV pushed the police vehicle into the rear of the disabled vehicle from the previous crash, leaving the officer with minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

While speaking with Rock, officers said that they detected signs of impairment, and he was taken into custody without incident.
